  • To provide on-going support to new volunteers for a time-frame

Prerequesites before becoming a Peer mentor

  • Background: Completed 2 years active volunteering within Connecting and actively involved in the Program they would like to be a peer mentor in. Exposure across Programs is preferable.
  • Mindset:
    • Supportive Presence: Currently provides consistent support to callers or in facilitating groups.
    • Empathetic Listener: Demonstrates principles of non-judgment, acceptance, presencing, allowing and non-advisory, as an empathetic listener.
    • Seeks to live those principles in the mentoring process.
    • Learning mindset: Is willing to learn, relearn and sees the mentoring process as a mutual learning process.
  • Commitment: Commits to one year of mentorship, renewable annually. This includes:
    • Optional Training Support
    • Weekly Involvement: Sets aside 1 hour per week to mentor a group of 3-4 volunteers.
