STREET ART

ALICE BERSI EMMA SIMONCELLI

What is street art?

Street art is a form of art that is usually created outside, in publics areas. It is different from other forms of art because it isn’t permanent and it isn’t easy to collect or exhibit. Some people say street art is just graffiti or “vandalism” and it is often illegal Street artists want to declare political statements through their paintings. Some street artists do it for fun or to make streets and buildings more interesting and besides they want to produce art that interacts with the environment, they are very inventive because they paint in 3D and it’s often very hard to know what is real and what isn’t.

Forms of street art

Video projection

Street installations

Stencils

Stickers

The stencils are usually made from paper or cardboard. Street artists use stencils because they can paint large image very quick.

Street artists also use stickers. These are also homemade. Some stickers are painted individually, others are printed and used in large quantities.

Street art is done on the walls of buildings with paint and brushes, but now it is quick if you use spray paint.

video projections are different because it is possible to move them to a different places.

Street installations are 3D street sculptures and artists every day give us a different perspective of them.
