Linus Torvalds was born on 28 December 1969 in Helsinki, Finland He met his current wife Tove Torvalds in 1993 He has 3 daugthers Linus developed an interest in scuba diving in 2000 and has achieved numerous certifications

Torvalds wanted to call the kernel Freax ("free", "freak" and X because it was a Unix-like system), but his friend Ari Lemmke host his repasitory with namo of Linux. On 5 January 1991 he purchased an Intel 80386-based IBM PC clone before receiving his MINIX copy. But he didn't like Minix, so he decided to create an OS himself. Initially, he wrote a low-level program to access his university's computer network via dial-up, then implemented a disk drive to download and upload files, and finally set about creating the first version of Linux.
