En mujeres, puede provocar cambios hormonales y dolores abdominales.

La respuesta al estrés afecta profundamente al organismo, activando el sistema nervioso simpático y provocando vasoconstricción, dilatación pupilar, taquicardia, taquipnea y ralentización de la motilidad intestinal. También se liberan catecolaminas, cortisol y encefalina, lo que aumenta la glucosa, factores de coagulación, aminoácidos libres y elementos inmunitarios en la sangre.
