the classical Era (1750-1820)

The music of the Classical Era is also known as The Age of Enlightenment or The Age of Reason. The music of this time took on a lighter, clearer, and simpler texture compared to the Baroque era. This shift didn't mean sacrificing complexity. Instead, composers focused on developing different forms such as the string quartet, opera buffa, opera seria, sonata, symphony, and solo concerto. This Era saw a preference for melodic material with harmonic development and a style that emphasized light elegance. These changes showcased the rich innovations of the Classical period.
