Working One-on-One with an Instructional Designer
After completing CFPD, you'll work with an experienced instructional designer who will help you develop your course, manage the project, and ensure best practices in online design. In Phase 2, you'll finish the course map with your designer, outlining objectives, assessments, and instruction, which is crucial for Quality Matters review. Effective communication is key. We recommend bi-weekly meetings with the instructional designer for a collaborative development cycle. Expect your instructional designer to:
- Schedule bi-weekly meetings (or more if needed)
- Respond within two business days (Monday-Friday 8 am – 5 pm MST)
- Share strategies for engaging learners and ensuring quality interactions
- Collaborate to align assessments and materials with learning objectives
- Help update materials for accessibility
- Build content in the Canvas shell within 7-10 days, excluding video.
All recorded video content should be submitted by the 75% deadline for editing and captioning.
Phase 3
Quality Assurance
Once all course materials have been built in Canvas, we will perform an internal Accessibility & Design Review, then a Quality Matters review. Quality Matters provides researched-based, industry-recognized quality assurance standards. We will use Quality Matters to evaluate course design, not course delivery.
