Culturally Responsive Teaching

Culturally responsive teaching is not just about diversity. It is meeting students' needs through a unique learning experience that supports learning between home and school while valuing their voices, backgrounds, identities, and cultures (Culturally Responsive Teaching, n.d.).

Culturally Responsive Technology

Culturally Responsive Technology is using technology to meet the needs of students, connect with families, and integrate diverse perspectives into the curriculum (Curriculum Responsive Instruction through Technology, 2024).

Culturallly Responsive Adaptations to the Curriculum

Calling on a variety of students for Participation
Encourage Collaboration
Real-world connections are made through hands-on activities or visual aids

Calling on each student is an inclusive educational practice that engages various learners. Students are encouraged to share their thoughts and ways of solving a problem.

Teachers can adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of their students through visual aids and hands-on activities that allow for students to not only make real-world connections but also encourage a rich learning environment where the scholar is more likely to retain the information being learned.

Having curriculum-structured and nonstructured conversations between peers and educators allows scholars to feel safe and welcomed, which will allow for a more reputable learning environment.

Nearpod is one online platform that allows for virtual reality, peer collaboration, and interactive lessons through drag and drop, drawing, fill in the blank, quizzes, and gaming.

Flipgrid allows educators to play educational videos related to instructional content. Educators can then use these videos to drive discussions and reflections.
