Write a fictional story!

Directions:

  1. Choose a relevant social issue
  2. Determine what message you want to send about this issue
  3. Craft an engaging narrative with relatable characters
  4. Use at least three satricial or rhetorical devices in your narrative and label them.
  5. Use any format you would like since this is creative (you can even add pictures)
  6. Ensure your story is organized and free of any spelling or grammatical errors

*Feel free to get creative with the format you use (Word, PowerPoint, Canva, etc)

Directions:

  1. Choose a social issue
  2. Utilize poetic techniques such as figurative language and sensory detail to convey your message
  3. Employ at least 2 satirical devices in your poem and label them
  4. Ensure the poem is emotionally charged and provokes strong reactions from your audience
  5. Submit a video performance of your poem using dynamic vocal delivery, body language, gestures, and telling facial expressions
  6. Submit a typed version of your slam poem.

A performance of your poem is required for this option. You will lose up to 3 points out of 15 for failing to include a video.

Directions:

  2. Begin with one slide that provides background information regarding the issue (must cite any research)
  3. Create or share three memes related to your chosen social issue (each on their own slide)
  4. Write a brief 2-3 sentence description explaining how the meme is utilizing satire for each slide (identify which satirical device is being used OR explain what category of satire it is)
  5. End with a slide explaining your stance on the issue and what can be done to improve it
