Healthy Relationships

“Cn u show me more? ;)”

Throughout their lives, people are likely to have a range of different types of relationships with others. This includes relationships with family, friends, colleagues and intimate relationships. It can help to learn about relationships because it’s important to know how people should treat one another. For example, some relationships are positive but it’s also possible to have challenging relationships with people, or experience harmful and hurtful behaviours in relationships, so it’s good to be aware of this.

What is a healthy and unhealthy relationship?

Sexting

Sexting is when you send a sexual message, photo or video to someone else. It could be a picture of you, but sometimes people send pictures and videos of other people. Messages could be to a friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or someone online. Sexting includes: being partly or completely naked, or in your underwear posing in a sexual position sending ‘nudes’ or ‘dick pics’ talking about sexual things you’re doing or want to do doing sexual things on a live stream

Reproductive Health

Experience of puberty is individual and not everyone will go through the same changes at the same time. It is ok to be different from someone else. In this session we consider puberty in the context of gender assigned at birth.

There's an increased interest in sex and partners

That is for both men AND women

The handouts will show different changes in our bodies!

How does conception happen?

The ovaries develop and release eggs and periods start, usually from age 10 to 16 - this does vary though (a GP can give advice if periods haven’t started by 16). The testicles start producing sperm, usually from age 10 to 14. Sperm can fertilise an egg through sexual intercourse, and this can result in a pregnancy. There are some risks to having unprotected sex, not just unwanted pregnancy...

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health concern. STIs are often considered to be stigmatising, and may seriously impact the health and wellbeing of affected individuals, as well as being costly to healthcare services.

The most commonly diagnosed STIs are:
