William Shakespeare was born on 23rd april 1564 and died on 23rd april 1616.Shakespeare wrote during the Elizabethian Age, the golden age for literature and theatre; he wrote 154 sonnets and two long poems.We can divide Shakespeare's plays in 5 periods:1)Apprenticeship (The Comedy of Errors)2)Maturity (The Merchant of Venice/ Romeo and Juliet)3)Experiment (Hamlet)4)Tragedy(Macbeth)5)Last plays (The Tempest)
Romeo and Juliet
At the start Romeo goes to the masquerade ball of Lord and Lady Capulet, enemies of his family, then he meets their daughter Juliet and they fall in love. With the help of Friar Lawrence, they get secretly married, so their families would not find it out. Juliet's mom wants her to marry Count Paris, so she asks Friar Lawrence for help, and he suggests her to drink a potion which will give her a fake dead for 42 hours while the Friar had to inform Romeo about the plan and Romeo, who was kicked out of Verona for a fight that had involved Romeo, his cousin Benvolio, his friend Mercutio and Juliet's cousin, Tybald, should bring her back to Mantua. Unfortunately, the message fails to reach Romeo in time so Romeo, seeing Juliet apparently dead, decides to kill himself with poison. Then, Juliet finds out that Romeo is dead, takes his knife and kills herself.
Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's best known tragedy. It was published for the first time in 1597. The story is set in Verona, because it was considered a place of love. The main characters are the lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Other important characters are: 1)Friar Lawrence: he's friend with Juliet and Romeo and secretly marries them hoping that the union might bring peace between the two families. 2)Mercutio: he's a prince's relative and Romeo's closest friend. He goes to the Capulets party with Romeo. After Romeo receives a death thread from Tybald, he decides to fight him, but Tybalt kills him. 3)Tybalt: he's Juliet's cousin. He challenges Romeo for a duel to death, but Romeo declines the duel. Then, Romeo's friend, Mercutio, begins to fight him but Tybalt kills Mercutio.
The Merchant of Venice
It's the story of Antonio, a merchant in Venice, who asks for money to Shylock, a jewish moneylender,because he wants to help Bassanio, a friend of his, to win the heart of a whealty heiress, Portia. When Antonio's ships fail to arrive in Venice he cannot pay back the loan, then Shylock demands a pound of flesh as forfeit. After this, Portia and her maid Nerissa disguise as lawyers and protect Antonio and Graziano, asking for mercy. Finally, Shylock is defeated and loses all of his whealth. The play ends with the marriage of Bassiano and Portia, and Nerissa and Gratiano, but it also raises questions about justice.
The Merchant of Venice
The Merchant of Venice is a play by William Shakespeare dated 1598 that explores the themes of love, justice and prejudice. Main characters are Bassanio, a humble man who wants to win Portia's heart, and Portia, a rich heiress and the story is set in Venice. Other important characters are: 1)Antonio: he's a close friend of Bassiano and, to help him to win Portia's heart, he asks Shylock to borrow his money and give them to Bassiano 2)Shylock: he's a rich jewish man and borrows a part of his money to Bassanio 3)Graziano: he's another friend of Bassiano and he gets married with Portia's maid, Nerissa. He accompaines him in front of the court and supports him.
Claudio, a nobelman, falls in love with Hero, the daughter of Leonato. They get engaged, but Don John wants to ruin their happiness by making Claudio believe Hero has been unfaithful. During the wedding, Claudio shames Hero in front of everyone, leading to her apparent death for pain. Meanwhile, Beatrice and Benedick, who engage a thought discussion and seem to dislike each other, at the end fall in love. Their friends, try to make them realize they love each other. Once the truth about Hero's innocence is revealed she is restored. Claudio, realizing his mistake, agrees to marry Hero. Beatrice and Benedick admit their love for each other. The play ends with two weddings and a celebration of love and reconciliation.
Much ado about nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by William Shakespeare that faces two main plots involving love, deception, and misunderstandings and the main characters are the lovers Claudio and Hero. Other important characters are: 1)Leonato: The governor of Messina and Hero's father. He's quick to defend his family's honor when Hero is falsely accused. 2)Benedick: he's a sarcastic soldier and a friend of Claudio. During the story he will change his idea of love.3)Beatrice: The cousin of Hero, Beatrice always verbally fights with Benedick, but she will change her mind during the story
Much ado about nothing
The main storyline tells about four young Athenians: Hermia, who is in love with Lysander; Helena, who loves Demetrius; and Demetrius, who is initially in love with Hermia. Hermia’s father insists for her to marry Demetrius, but she and Lysander escape in the forest. There, they meet a group of fairies, including Oberon, the fairy king, and his servant, Puck. Oberon tries to resolve the love triangle and tells Puck how to use a magical flower’s juice to make Demetrius fall in love with Helena. However, Puck causes Lysander to fall in love with Helena instead of Hermia and this leads to chaos as both men pursue her. Meanwhile, a group of actors are preparing a play for the Duke’s wedding. When the fairy magic ends, there are many misunderstandings until Oberon restores the order. By the end of the play, true love prevails: Hermia and Lysander are united, and Demetrius falls in love with Helena. The play ends with a wedding and Puck’s famous monologue, suggesting that all may have been a dream.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in 1595 at the court of Queen Elizabeth l and the main themes are love, illusion and magic.The main characters are two couples: Hermia and Lysander, and Helena and DemetriusOther important characters are:1)Egeus: he's Hermia's father. He wants his daughter to marry Demetrius, a guy she does not love, leading to the conflict the story is based on.2)Oberon:he's the king od fairies. He gives instructionto Puck, his servant, to solve the two couples' problems3)Puck: the king of fairies' servant. He accidentally gives the potion to the wrong people, making them fall in love with each other.

Charlotte Bronte was born on 21st September 1816 and died on 31st March 1855. She was an English novelist and poet, best known for her novel Jane Eyre. She was the third of six siblings in the Brontë family, which included her famous sisters Emily and Anne, both of whom were also writers.
The story begins with Jane living with her cruel aunt and her cousins. After years of mistreatments, she is sent to Lowood School. There, she becomes a close friend with Helen Burns and receives an education, but also faces challenges, including illness and oppression. After finishing her education, Jane becomes a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets Mr. Rochester. Jane falls in love with him, but she discovers he hides a dark secret: he is already married to a mentally ill woman, Bertha Mason, who is hidden in the attic. When Jane learns the truth, she leaves Thornfield to protect her own integrity. After a difficult period, she finds help at the Rivers siblings', who turn out to be her relatives. St. John Rivers proposes marriage, but Jane realizes she cannot marry without love. Finally, she returns to Thornfield, and finds it burnt after a fire set by Bertha, who died in the fire. Jane goes back to Mr. Rochester, who has been injured and is now poor and blind. They get married, finding happiness together.
