Pacing Guide
A pacing guide is a week-by-week guide showing where teachers should be and what is being focused on.Certain weeks may focus on certain concepts or skill sets and the pacing guide gives teachers a reference to ensure they stay on track. This goes week-by-week where curriculum mapping is over the course of the year. When concepts follow eachother and teachers can follow a guide it will help students get more consistent exposure and retain the infromation.
Lesson Plans
Lesson plans are a daily guide for teachers to use when they are teaching their students. These plans go in-depth on what is being taught, how its being taught, and when it is being taught. These plans can change from day-to-day and are the direct instruction guide for teachers to follow throughout the day. This helps teachers be successful in knowing what they are teaching and getting that content to the students (Pellerin & Ramsey, 2023).Lesson plans are different from curriculum maps and pacing guides due to their in-depth look into the curriculum and activity-by-activity guide for the day.
Curriculum Mapping
Curriculum mapping is aligning skills students are learning to their classes and grade levels. It gives a framework for others to review and follow for different requirements and resources they may need (team iCEV, 2018).Curriculum mapping helps skills and requirements move fluidly through a students academic career and improves coherences in teaching.
