- Nomadic: when someone moves from one place to another.
- Mecca: The birthplace of Muhammad and the holiest city in Islam
Muhammad was born in 570 CE. By the time he was 8 years old, his father, mother, and grandfather had all passed away. When he was in his early 20's he married a wealthy merchant with whom he had 6 children with, but only 4 of the kids survived.

- Mecca: The birthplace of Muhammad and the holiest city in Islam
After Muhammad's passing, the people who led Islam were known as Caliphs. The first four Caliphs were Abu Bakr
The Four Caliphs
- Revelations: something revealed by god to humans
- Persecution: cruel or unfair treatment because of beliefs
Muhammad was visiting a cave when the Angel Gabriel came to him. For the next 23 years, Muhammad received messages from Gabriel. These messages became the Quran, the holy book of Islam.
