Changes in SPELLING

PRESENT CONTINUOUS

USE the present continuous:
  • For actions in PROGRESS at the time of speaking e.g. What are you doing?
  • For TEMPORARY things happening now or around now (this week, this year, etc), e.g. I'm studying English this year.
  • To describe what's happening in a picture, e.g. They're waiting for the train.
  • To talk about FUTURE ARRANGEMENTS, e.g. I'm going to the dentist Friday 11am .
  • Verbs which describe states or feelings (non-action verbs) are normally used in the simple form, not the continuous.
What is a future arrangement?
NON-ACTION VERBS
PRACTICE

Aspects to consider about STATIVE (non-action verbs)

They are called STATIVE (or non-action) verbs as opposed to DYNAMIC (action) verbs
They typically describe STATES of being, FEELINGS, or CONCEPTS
Normally, these verbs don't take the continuos or progressive form in any of the tenses in -ing (past continuous, present perfect continuous, etc) even if we mean 'now': I'm wanting* an ice -cream
Verbs of the senses like LOOK, HEAR, SMELL, TASTE, SOUND, SEE, also behave like non-action verbs and are normally used in the simple tense (see a list on next page)
Some verbs can be used as STATIVE or DYNAMIC with a CHANGE in MEANING

From day X time 00:00 to day X time 00:00

Visual content is a cross-cutting, universal language, like music. We are capable of understanding images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
