Associate Dirctor of Family Health Services- Tarrant County Public Health
Dr. J'Vonnah Maryman holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Kansas School Of Medicine and a Doctorate in Community Psychology from Wichita State University. Dr. Maryman is currently the Associate Director of Family Health Services for Tarrant County Public Health. Coordinating the Family Health Services with a lifespan approach and utilizing community-based participatory research concepts in the delivery of program services. She has worked in Public Health for over 15 years in maternal child health-focused programming, community outreach and education, and public health performance.

Public health officials are typically your unseen heroes working behind the scenes. Many people do not notice thier work until an outbreak crisis hits the community hard. But public health is so much more than just crisis management. Public health is the food inspections at your favorite restaurant, information on car seat safety, and a part of the communities for development projects. Public health is everywhere and are addressing social determinants in every way possible.

With being in a system that is interconnected some stakeholders influences may take priority and may not align with the current vision or goals set.
Many agencies and organizations rely on the same grants for programs. This creates competion for resources and support which can hinder progress on goals for different initiatives.

Early Life in Public Health
Dr. Maryman's journey to public health started in her senior year of college in which her organization created a storks nest in the community in which she loved working with. She continued working in different communities and inadverdently discovered that all her work lead back to public health. As she continued to engage in her public health career, she noticed the challenges and wanted to address the obstacles she was seeing in the community.
