My Core Four
Presentation by Brandi Ampofo INST51020-Transforming Learning with Technology
Start
Hello!
Summary
In this presentation, I will explain why I chose my core four and how they fit with my beliefs on technology and integrating it into the classroom.
Communication
Effective communication is essential in all aspects of life. Being able to clearly state your thought process not only helps showcase your proficiency in the subject matter but it also helps the intended audience process the information. Teaching students how to gather their thoughts and information so that they are able to communicate their thoughts properly is a very important skill because ultimately it enhances the other 3C's. Everything begins and ends with communication.

Critical Thinking
Learning and teaching how to think critically in the classroom can be very challenging. Many educators have the belief that students should sit and listen to lectures and students should simply memorize the information given to them. We now know that it is imperative that students learn how to make connections between different concepts, solve problems for themselves, apply their knowledge in new ways, and think creatively. Using innovative tools in order to think critically takes the concept or idea from a small scale like a research paper to a much larger scale like a creating a website for a much larger audience for example.

Collaboration
Collaborative learning brings students together to achieve a shared goal. During the collaboration process students are responsible for their own learning as well as contributing to the group. Collaboration allows students to recognize their particular skillset and really showcase that without having an emphasis placed on their weaknesses like a traditional classroom activity.

Creativity
Allowing creativity in the classroom takes the environment to a right vs. wrong space to a how can we improve or enhance this idea space. Students will feel more confident to try new things, to make mistakes, and to take risks that they otherwise wouldn't have taken. Using creativity also increases the need for students to work in teams, solve more complex problems, and find different ways to learn.

- Utilizing the 4C's will allow my future students or trainees to work together on projects to highlight their own individual talents as well as their ability to perform necessary tasks as part of a group responsibility.
- Utilizing the 4C's will allow my future students or trainees to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas which will actually give them an increased understanding of the subject matter.
All of the 4C's are linked together through communication. Without effective communication none of them would be possible.
