Relief Prints
Prints created by carving designs and images out of a matrix.
1670 CE
Ukiyo-e wood blocki prints were created in Japan. These prints depicted scenes of everyday life and nature.
SCULPTURE
You can incorporate texture into a sculpture by carving lines and patterns.
STENCIL OR SCREENPRINTING
- Requires the use of a screen.
- Design is created by making a negative stencil.
- The ink will pass through and print through the holes of the stencil.
Color
- You can use values of color to create patterns and depth.
- If you think back to the gravel, you can see the shapes of that pattern because of the darker gray shadows under the rocks, and the highlights of the object.
INTAGLIO/ ETCHING
Lines are carved into the surface to create design.Then you apply ink into the lines and use high pressure to press design onto the paper.

Relief Prints
Prints created by carving designs and images out of a matrix.
1670 CE
Ukiyo-e wood blocki prints were created in Japan. These prints depicted scenes of everyday life and nature.

You can incorporate texture into a sculpture by carving lines and patterns.

Lines are carved into the surface to create design.Then you apply ink into the lines and use high pressure to press design onto the paper.
