In September 2024 childcare entitlement changed to expand childcare funding. this will change again. By September 2025, most working families with children under the age of 5 will be entitled to 30 hours of childcare support.

Free early learning for children under 5

The free early education and childcare:

• must be with an approved childcare provider

Free early learning funding:

• stops when the child starts in reception class (or reaches compulsory school age, if later)

• Free early learning and childcare for 9 months and older

• Free early learning for 2 year olds

• Free early learning for 3 and 4 year olds

• 30 hours of free early educations

Allocation

3- and 4-year-olds (the universal offer).
