The transportation of fossil gas through Mexico will worsen the climate crisis, severely affecting communities. The Saguaro project in the Gulf of California, home to 85% of the country's marine mammals, threatens to displace or kill the whales.
On Tuesday, September 10, 30 environmental organizations launched the "Whales or Gas?" campaign to demand the cancellation of a gas megaproject of the company Mexico Pacific, backed by the CFE.The project includes the 800 km "Sierra Madre" gas pipeline, which would cross northwestern Mexico from Texas to the Gulf of California, where a liquefaction terminal would be built in Puerto Libertad, Sonora.
The Mexican government must look after the interests and well-being of the Mexican population and its natural wealth, and not the economic interests of foreign companies.
Whale-killing vessels To transport the gas, they would use huge ships that would circulate through the Gulf of California, scaring away and killing the whales that today inhabit the Aquarium of the World.
