Why?
Why is feedback important?
According to Hattie's research, feedback has an effect size of 0.66. "The purpose of feedback should remain constant - to progressively close the gap between present and desired performance" (Hattie & Timperley, 2007).Effective feedback answers three questions: 1. Where am I going? 2. How am I going there? 3. Where will I go next?
Tips for good feedback
Feedback works best when the relationship between teacher and student is positive.
Feedback should have TACT: Targeted, Actionable, Continuous, Timely
Ask questions in your feedback to help guide learners to reflect.
Vary your feedback - use the audio and video feedback embedded into edio in addition to written.
Send an edio chat with your feedback and then in the feedback section write "See edio chat."
Be careful not to overwhelm learners! Try picking one aspect of the assignment to give feedback on.
