BEOWULF
“Beowulf” is an Anglo-Saxon epic poem that recounts the exploits of the title hero, Beowulf, a warrior of the Geats, a Scandinavian people. The story mainly takes place in three acts, each characterized by heroic adventures and fights against monsters. First Act: The fight against Grendel The story begins in the kingdom of Denmark, ruled by King Hrothgar. His castle, Heorot, is terrorized by Grendel, a monster who attacks at night, claiming victims among the warriors. Beowulf, hearing of Hrothgar's fame, decides to help the king. He arrives with a band of warriors and confronts Grendel with his bare hands. After an intense battle, Beowulf manages to defeat the monster by tearing off its arm, which leads Grendel to retreat and die in his refuge.
Second Act: Grendel's Revenge After Beowulf's victory, peace seems to have returned. However, Grendel's mother, a vengeful creature, attacks Heorot to avenge her son's death. Beowulf doesn't hold back and ventures into his refuge deep in a dark lake. Here, he faces a new battle, using a magical sword called "Hrunting". In the end, he manages to behead Grendel's mother, bringing peace to Denmark. Third Act: The Fight against the Dragon After years of reign and wisdom, Beowulf becomes king of the Geats. When a dragon begins to terrorize his kingdom, Beowulf, now elderly, decides to face it. Armed only with his sword, he faces the creature. Despite his prowess, the dragon inflicts mortal wounds on Beowulf. With the help of a young warrior, Wiglaf, Beowulf manages to slay the dragon, but his wounds prove fatal.
