1. Which Set of 4 Cs
Table of Context
Which Set?
TI personally believe the 4 Cs, Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity align the most with Technology Integration within Education.
Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is needed in education for students to get beyond the "what" and into the "why and how". Reserch has always show that students have the highest level of understanding when they are able to teach another. Technology allows students access so many tools to help a student learn about and presenting a concept . In my classroom, I have my students present a google slide show on a successful person that struggled in school This assignment allows them to do research independently, work on their oral reporting as well as help builds their confidence as striving readers.
Collaboration
LCollaboration is an essential part of communication. One of my favorite ways to have small group collaboration when working virtually in through break out groups. I also find that large group collaboration to solve a class problem is effective. Online tools allow students to give suggestions or concerns anonymously so the group can work collaboratively to solve concerns.
Our current technology allows us to communicate in ways we could never have pictured previously. Reaching students who can't physically be at school, collaborating with collegues far and near, are now just a click away. In my own professional life, I use communication through technology including GoGuardian chats with my students, IAC meetings as well as other professional development.
Communication
Creativity
Creativity is the heart of education. If creativity was not important in education, robots could do our job. However, it is one of our main jobs to find creative ways to help our students gain the information they need. With the use of technology, our creative options are endless. In my classroom, my students love blookets (gamifying) to review concepts. We also use wordwall, iReady and scholastic tools.
