How old were you when you learnt to read? I started to read when I was 5-6 years old. My mum/grandmother taught me. What do you like to read about? I like reading detective novels and adventure books. I read for pleasure (and to have some rest from my busy school life). Who is your favorite writer? My favorite writer is Akunin/Bradbury/Tolstoy. I love his novels. I think they are geniuses. What do you usually do in Literature lessons? In my Literature lessons we discuss the novels and poems which we’ve read. Also we write essays expressing our opinions. What do you like to do in your free time apart from reading? I’m a fan of sports. I love playing volleyball. Also I often draw and paint. What books do you prefer: printed books or e-books? Why? I prefer e-books. It’s more comfortable to have your library in a small device. We don’t need to have room to keep paper books.

I’m going to give a talk about books. I think that reading is a bit less popular nowadays and we read probably less than our parents did when they were our age. We still read but today we have got a lot of other ways of getting information and entertainment. In a couple of minutes we can find the information we need for our school projects on the Internet instead of going to the library and searching it in a pile of books. I like reading detective novels and adventure books. I read for pleasure and to have some rest from my busy school life. Probably this is the reason why I prefer these genres more than more serious ones. It’s true that many people prefer e-books to paper books today. I think it’s obvious that it’s more comfortable to have your entire library in a small and not heavy device like an e-book. We don’t need to have room to keep piles of paper books. We often pay less for downloading a digital version of a book than when we buy a paper one. It’s great that sometimes we can get an e-book even for free. I am not into reading very much and I think that my attitude to reading is rather neutral. I think that’s all that I wanted to tell you about books.
