The league of Nations was estabilished in 1920. It was an international organisation with two main purposes:1. To promote international cooperation, security and peace2. to assume the temporary administration of colonies and territories. This estabilishment faced limitations: United States didn't join, rejecting the Paris teatries.

Political Conflicts like Balkan Wars and Imperialist powers were causes of the war to start

The inmediate cause of the outbreak of war was the assasination of Franz Ferdinand, heir to the crown of Austria-hungary in Sarajevo ( Bosnia ) by a Serbian nacionalist Student in June 1914

The war started at almost the same time on the two fronts ( Eastern and Western ). Germany attemped a surprise attack on France which failed due to the resistance of France on the Marne. Russia advenced, attacking and penetrating Germany and Austria- Hungary.Japan joined the war on the Allied and Turkey joined on The Entented

The lack of a conclusive victory resulted in a dead end along the fronts, where extensive trench lines were fortified and protected by machine guns, barbed wire and minefields.

From these trenches, both sides launched offensives to wear the enemy down (Verdun, Somme). These offensives caused an enormous number of casualties, but didn't lead to any advance of the fronts. The conflic had become a global conflict with the entrace of forther countries: Bulgaria, Italia, Romania and Portugal.

In 1917, following Russian defeats and the success of the Communist revolution, Russia signed and amnistice. Later, entered inf the Treaty of Brest- Litovsk ( 1918 )

When they entered The treaty of Brest-Litovsk in 1918, this agreement enabled Germany to redirect its military forces towards France. This setback was compensated by the entry of USA into the war in favour of alliance.-The central empires surrended. This ended in 1918 when Germany requested an amnistice and Emperor Wilhem II abdicated.USA President Woodorow Wilson set out the "14 points"

The treaty of Versailles signed with Germany. It made Germany responsible for the war and imposed reparations, the reduction of its army to 100.000 men, the return of Alsance and Lorrain to France and the loss of other European colonies
