On the right, we see the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in Los Angeles County. Although this map is from 2000, NDVI remains relatively the same.

On the left, we see median prices per square food in Los Angeles County.

1. Dense vegetation- Higher values ranging from 0.6-0.9
2. Sparse vegetation- Moderate values ranging from 0.2-0.5
3. Barren areas- Low values ranging from 0.1 to the negatives.

• It is a metric that measures the density and health of vegetation.
• Measures in a range from -1.0 to +1.0.

What is NDVI?

There is an association between green spaces and tree canopies and higher median incomes.
