Sherdor Madrasah:
Constructed in the 17th century, Sher-Dor is best known for its distinctive mosaics depicting tigers with the sun on their backs. The unique symbolism in the design reflects the blend of Islamic and local cultural motifs, emphasizing power and strength. Though built two centuries after Ulugh Beg Madrasah, its architectural style mirrors the grandeur of the earlier structure while adding its own artistic flair.
Tillakori Madrasah
Built in the mid-17th century, Tilya-Kori served both as a mosque and a madrasah, showcasing its dual purpose. The name “Tilya-Kori” means “gold-covered,” a fitting description for its richly gilded interior, particularly the mosque’s stunning golden dome. This madrasah played a vital role in religious and educational activities, symbolizing the city's spiritual and scholarly prominence.
Ulugh Beg Madrasah:
Built in the early 15th century by the famous astronomer and ruler Ulugh Beg, this madrasah was a prominent center of learning. It hosted renowned scholars and students, primarily focusing on mathematics, astronomy, and philosophy. The stunning entrance, adorned with intricate geometric patterns, reflects the architectural brilliance of the Timurid period.
