The Why
I chose the photos as markers because I think they truly emulate the buildings on campus. The pictures and the explanations create a story about the place. They give context as to what St. Olaf was from the start of the institution. I also wanted to highlight that since this scrapbook was made in the 1970's, the campus looked different. Not only did campus look different, the events and overall vibes of the campus were different. It was a compltely different place when it was first built then in the 70's and now present day. I think its important to highlight its differences and what made it unique then and now.
Personal Reflection
This page really stood out to me because of how interactive it is. I found myself reflecting on my college experience here at St. Olaf and what I wanted to make of it. This scrapbook also made me want to create my own scrapbook. It is truly such a creative and fun way to reflect and document a pivotal period of your life. There are memories that I might forget down the line and having a scrapbook keeps those memories forever in a way that a phone or writing cannot.
The water tower built in 1948, was located by Melby and Skifter Hall. The water tower has had many instances of vandalism from students climbing to the top and writing things such as, "Happy 100th" for St. Olaf's 100th anniversary.

Layout
"Take a whole new look."You as the viewer are prompted to look at the photo underneath and look at it with a new perspective. The placement of the quote is strategic and sets the viewer up for reflection with the photo. The placement asks the question, what does St. Olaf mean to you?
Layout #2
"At everything you want to do and be and wear and share and make."The quote that is placed at the bottom of the page to the right. After you have taken a whole new look, you are asked to take a whole new look at everything you want to do. Everything you want to do on campus. What you want to make your college experince about. It is placed after the photo so that the viewer can examine their individual goals and what they want out of the college experience.
The creator of this scrapbook. Deborah was a St. Olaf College nursing student in the 70's. Her scrapbook documents her life on the hill.
