Luddite Movement

Men against machines

The more machinery, the less jobes. It's quite simple. This movement lashed out at machines simply because they meant less workforce. Luddites blamed machines for their bad labour conditions and accidents.

Luddites petition the parliament for the end of abuse at work.

Originis

A direct consequence of the industrial revolution and being left behind in the liberal revolutions

The revolutionary waves of the 19th century made it possible to abolish feudalism, including the third-state society mode. these revolutions clearly benefited the bourgeoisie socially and economically, becoming the main social class. The new large working class was left behind.

Nonetheless, they were many and were suffering from deplorable working and living conditions. It was a matter of time they organised and started making demands

Friendly Societies

Frist attempt at unity

Job loss, injuries, even death were an everey day occurrence. Workingmen created and joined friendly societies by paying a fee so they'd be covered in such circumstances.

Trade Unions

To improve labour conditions

Goals: protect workers from unnecessary risks using dangerous machines, unhealthy working conditions, and excessive working hours. Also, the sought to raise wages. Means: negotiations, strikes, protests.
