In July 1799, a group of soldiers stumbled upon an object that would change our understanding of the ancient world. That object was the Rosetta Stone, the most famous piece of rock in the world. This fragment of an ancient stele became the key that unlocked the mysterious hieroglyphic writing of ancient Egypt.

THE LEGEND OF BEEFEATERS

Beefeaters are the colorful guardians of the Tower of London. They were originally created as prison guards with the task of keeping all the prisoners calm and above all as guardians of the Crown Jewels. Every evening for seven hundred years the function of the "ceremony of the keys" has taken place with the evening closing of the doors. This function is the oldest public function and is performed daily without ever having been interrupted, not even during the two world wars. It is also possible to attend the ceremony, by presenting an application and free invitation to the "constable of the tower" many months before the date.
