Designing and planning your professional goals by taking into consideration what is important to you is an important skill for your college career.

Advice from our Guidance Service

Taking the map you drew earlier, identify one or two jobs that you like and try to develop an identikit of that profession by indicating the skills and knowledge needed for them.

The Guidance Service offers you the workshop “It’s Up to You! Discover your decision-making style and overcome bias” aimed at intensifying decision-making skills and supporting you, through interactive activities, in deciding on a future career path or the continuation of your studies. This could help you understand how to connect the topics you study with your aspirations for the future!

There is the option to book online or in-person consultations and access a more personalized service where you can address concerns and issues surrounding your studies with a career guidance expert! You can also take part in the workshop “Emotionally-minded: I recognize and embrace my emotions” where we explore strategies for recognizing and managing emotions! This could help you in managing your experiences related to university and your professional future.

Did you know...

Many students choose a degree without being clear about what to do afterwards. This can lower motivation to study, but it is not too late to reflect on these aspects! In fact, exploring one's personal and professional interests is important to understand what goals one wants to pursue.

Advice from our Guidance Service

Try drawing a map with circles representing the areas of the subjects you like best; for each one, identify job activities and occupations that might interest you.

If you want to further explore your career interests, the guidance service provides the workshop “What Matters to Me? Navigating through many choices” where you can stop and reflect on yourself, your future studies and professional career, what is important to you and what you like to do!

We can be motivated in many different ways when we do things. Motivation and confidence in one's abilities and in being able to achieve our goals help a lot in studying.

Advice from our Guidance Service

Try writing on a sheet of paper 5 activities you could do and/or decisions you could make, thinking about college and starting with the statement “I think I could...”

It's possible that sometimes you feel discouraged because you cannot achieve the academic results you would like, but you believe that a more effective organization of your time would help you. You can attend the workshop “Organization and Time Management” where we'll discuss some strategies that may help you manage your time more effectively for exam preparation.
