Introduction
Leadership in sports goes beyond guiding teams, it inspires change both on and off the field.Leadership in sports is also a really powerful force that transcends wins and losses, serving as a catalyst for social change and lasting inspiration.Historical figures have demonstrated how athletes can break barriers and champion equality. An effective leadership can improve teamwork, resilience, and social responsibility. This exploration will highlight the essential qualities of sports leaders, examining their lasting impact on communities and even in the future generations.
What is Leadership?
Leadership is the ability to guide, influence and to inspire others toward a specific goal that involves a combination of skills and qualities like communication, empathy, making decisions, integrity and responsibillity. So we can say that a leader is a professional who has the ability to motivate, attract and inspire everyone around them. In a workplace we can have 1 leader or even more, for example, in a football team we have at least 2 leaders, the captain and the coach and they represent different ways of leadership. The leader walks alongside the team to achieve results, always in the same boat as their team by their own choice.

Charismatic Leader
A charismatic leader knows how to use and promote empathy within the company. Developing a charismatic leadership style can be particularly beneficial with a team we truly trust. Employees or teammates tend to be more motivated by the company’s or teams goals, passionate about what they do, and maintain a closer, more open relationship with their leader, being more than mates, like friends. A charismatic leader has to be really good at communication and they usually are people with some key characteristics, such as confidence, passion, empathy and vision, because they are really good at compelling vision for the future that excite others to trust them.

Transformational Leader
A transformational leader is someone who inspires and motivates their team to achieve higher levels of performance and personal growth. This leadership style focuses on creating a vision for the future and fostering an environment of change and innovation. Transformational leaders have some keys characteristics such as inspiration, empowerment, support, motivation, emotional intelligence, innovation and personal connection. Transformational leadership can lead to higher job satisfaction, creating a really positive change in their team by encouraging the teammates to innovate and to be more crative, resulting in a better performance in their work.

Transactional leader
A transactional leader is someone who values order and structure. They are more likely to command military operations, manage large corporations or lead international projects that require rules and regulations to complete objectives on time or move people and supplies in an organized way. Transactional leaders are not a good fit for places where creativity and innovative ideas are valued so the opposite of transformational leaders. Transactional leadership depends on self-motivated people who work well in a structured, directed environment. This type of leadership is based on a system of rewars and punishments, by other words, its more agressive and can have either a really good impact or a really bad.

Autocratic Leader
An autocratic leader is someone who makes decisions unilaterally, without seeking input or feedback from others, looking alike transactional leadership. This leadership style is characterized by a centralization of authority, where the leader holds significant power and control over the team Autocratic leaders often dictate tasks, set strict rules, and expect compliance from their team members. While this approach can lead to quick decision-making and clear direction, it may also reduce creativity and team moral, as members may feel undervalued or disconnected from the decision-making process. Autocratic leaders are really bad listening to the others and their focus in in the efficiency and in controling the team to think and do their job on the way the leader wants to.

Democratic Leader
A democratic leader is one who encourages participation and collaboration among team members in the decision-making process. This leadership style values open communication, input and feedback, allowing group members to share their ideas and opinions. Democratic leaders typically value the contributions of their team and foster a sense of ownership and commitment. This approach can lead to increased morale, creativity and a stronger sense of community, although it may also result in slower decision-making compared to more autocratic styles. This type of leadership usually incluse everybody on the team and is really flexible, because they are open to new ideas, like new tactics to help them to win games.

Are Leaders born or made
We think leaders are a mix of both, because we have lots of examples of leaders who were born and leaders who were made. Usually born leaders are born with that lidership feeling of a natural influence and to have some certain charecteristics such as charisma, confidence and decisiveness. Made leaders may be better at adaptability, so it means that made leaders usually are paople that can learn to adapt their style of leadership based on the environment and the needs of their team. Made leaders are also good at skill development beacause of their practice, experience and even based on their education. In reality, a good leadership involves a combination of lots of skills, some being inherent and others learned.

Were Leaders in the past like Leaders today?
We think that leaders in the past have some similarities with today leaders, but they are very different, because the world did evolve in both human and technologic way. Leaders in the past had a good adaptability, authority and influence like leaders today, maybe not on the same level, but those are some common points between the 2 sides of leadership. Attributes like vision and decisiveness are present in the past and in nowadays, because leaders historically held significant power and influence, probably more than nowadays and they had that constant need to adapt to the new world, because we are always evolving.

Were Leaders in the past like Leaders today?
Leaders nowadays have similiraties with the leaders of the past, but we also have some interesting difference. In the past, leaders used to be more strict and authoritative, even used to not let some people to collaborate in everything, even inside of the sports world, but leaders of today focus more on collaboration and on inclusivity as it should be. Past leaders didn't have a great capacity of communication, but nowadays it's much easier to do it, we even have social media and by this we can communicate to people from the entire world.
Examples of Leaders of the past
In the past, we had some great examples of leadership, such as Billie Jean King, who was a female athelete who was crowned as champion tennis player and did advocate for gender equality in sports, she fought for equal pay and oppurtunities for women atheletes. Michael Jordan is another great example of leadership in sports. He was a professional basketball player who led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships and was known for his ability to elevate his teammates performance. Their dedication to the game was big, they used to train and practice a lot everyday, improving their game skills.

Examples of Leaders nowadays
An example of a leader inside and outside the field and even in the entire world is Cristiano Ronaldo. He's know for being one of the GOAT's in the sports world and his influence is enormous, making him the person with the most followers on social media. Ronaldo's dedication to football and to his game are just brilliant and by that we can see that he is a sportsman that we see once in a lifetime. He practice and try to improve himself everyday and outside of the field he has also a great presence because he does things that lots of other influent people don't, such as donating millions for carity, donating blood, not drinking any alchool and keeping a really good diet and lifestyle, making him one of the best, if not the best, leaders in sports.
