Assessor Responsibilities

  • Prepare before assessing
    • Read the written and performance assessments
      • Note any updates needed
      • Discuss with the other Assessors if you have any questions.
    • Determine what is needed for the performance assessment.
      • Assessments may require certain processes to be running or materials to be available.
    • Schedule assessment with the learners supervisor
  • Administer Assessments
    • Watch the learner perform the task and fill out the performance assessment checklist as each step is performed.
    • Step in and stop the assessment if a safety, quality, or regulatory compliance issue occurs.
    • Send the learner the written assessment quiz in Veeva or proctor the written assessment on paper.
  • Upload completed assessment documentation in Veeva
  • If applicable - Determine what the learner needs more training on before attempting the assessment again.

Assessor Responsibilities to the Learner

  • Communicate
    • Inform the supervisor when assessment is complete for the learner.
    • Let them know if the learner passed or needs retraining.
  • Consult
    • If the learner fails the assessment twice, consult with the Supervisor and Trainer on next steps.
      • This could be additional retraining, accommodations, or disqualifying the learner from that competency.

Assessor Responsibilities to the Supervisor

  • Communicate
    • Let the Trainer know if the learner did not pass the assessment so they can schedule retraining.
    • You can find a list of Trainers in the L drive : CBT Contact Lists folder.
  • Consult
    • If the learner fails the assessment once, communicate to the Trainer exactaly why they were not successful.
      • What step(s) did the learner skip or perform incorrectly?
      • Which questions did the learner select incorrect answers to?
      • If you had to stop the assessment, when and why?
    • If the learner fails the assessment twice, consult with the Supervisor and Trainer on next steps.
      • This could be additional retraining, accommodations, or disqualifying the learner from that competency.
  • Note : You can act as both the Trainer and Assessor if you are qualified in both roles.

Assessor Responsibilities to the Trainer

  • Notify list-L&D@tolmar.com when CBT assessment materials need to be updated.
  • Notify list-L&D@tolmar.com when you have ideas on how to improve competency based training or assessment materials.
    • The materials will be placed in the L:Training Materials /Working folder to allow you to make the identified updates.
    • If you identify an update, you will change the document and approve the revision as the technical reviewer.
    • Each updated CBT document requires three approval signatures : L&D, Technical, and Management.
