This resource will take you through the process of creating an article in Glide.Click on the flashing icons to access tooltips explaining what function that button or link performs.Anything not highlighted is either not relevant or of limited use when writing aricles.

An article can be started from the Quick Create section in the Dashboard
On the Articles page, use this button to create your article
This will take you to the Articles page where you will also have the opportunity to create an article
To create a gallery for linking to an article, use this option in the Quick Create window on the Dashboard

Once you've created your article you can then concentrate on adding the various elements that are required to publish it.
This is the first paragraph of your article and can be a standfirst or intro - it should not be repeated in your body text
You must give your article a headline for it to be valid and allow you to save it
Catchline can be used for search purposes so newsrooms may want to agree a standard naming convention
This is the headline that will appear on your homepage and section pages
Promo image is the thumbnail on you homepage - it will also be the main image in the article if a video is not added
Start typing your name and it should appear in the list of authors
Scroll down to the body text field where you can write the remainder of the article as well as add a video, images, hyperlinks and social media posts.

Write your article here - remembering not to duplicate the standfirst
This can be used to add various styles of headings as well as return to normal text
Add images from the library or upload from your local drive
Clicking on this will allow you to add a URL for a hyperlink
Include a post from X (formerly Twitter) within your article
Use this to add widgets from a third party, such as DailyMotion videos and Facebook posts - click on field or start typing to bring up your options
The first few buttons on the toolbar give you access to many of the common options you will find in content creation documents
If you created and published a gallery, you can use this button to add it to your article

Before you finish there are a few other options that have to be considerered - you will find them in the Custom Data field underneath your body text.

You can choose to flag an article as Sensitive, Breaking and/or Exclusive
You can choose to enabale/disable comments or make them ready only
If the article is to sit behind the paywall, set this field to Requires Subscription

Once your article is completed you need to decide where it will appear on your website and when you want it to published. Start by clicking on the Produce tab to bring up this screen.

Add images/galleries from the library or upload from your local drive
Select the website(s) and area(s) you want your article to appear
Schedule when you want your article to be published/unpublished
After saving, your article will appear as Draft. When you have finished, click on the icon to change it to Review, if it has to be checked, or Ready if you want to publish it.
The Save button will initially be greyed out. Once you have entered an headline or changes have been made it will turn blue. You can then click to save.

Now you are ready to publish your article! Follow the instructions below to do this. When an article has been published - even if it has an embargo set- it will be directed into Desk for use in print.
When your article is Ready the globe icon will change to green. If it is still grey, you have unsaved changes and will need to Save again. To publish your article click on the green globe.
If you need to update your article for any reason, return it to Draft, make the required changes and then follow the same process as you did to publish it orginally,
Do you want your content to be clear and fun? Then interactivity will be your best ally. Select an element and click on the Interactivity button at the top: Label, Window, Show, Link, Go to page, Audio, Expand image, Interactive questions… You choose!
