PAST TENSES

These are multiple, but today we're going to learn about:

It's formed by using the base form of the verb + -ed

PAST SIMPLE

When we use -ed, there are some rules to follow, for example: stop->stopped study->studied play->played

IRREGULAR VERBS:have> had > had fly>flew>flownbe>was >been become>became>become write> wrote>written cut>cut>cut

It's used to refer to:

  • past habits
  • completed actions in the past

  • I didn't really like the candies your mom gave us on Halloween.
  • On Thanksgiving Day the pilgrims invited the Native Americans to celebrate.
  • Last Halloween, I dressed up as a vampire.
  • On Thanksgiving, my mom cooked the best turkey ever.

It's formed by the base form + -ed

PAST SIMPLE

Althought, we have some irregularities, for example: stop->stopped study->studied play->played

  • On Thanksgiving, my mom cooked the best turkey ever.

Present perfect is formed by using the auxiliary verb "have" + the past participle of the main verb.

PRESENT PERFECT

We form the question by inverting "have" and the subject.

We can easily understand how to use it by the fact that it is either:

It's used to talk about a recent action that often has a link with the present.

EXAMPLES:My mother has cooked the best turkey ever for this evening. I have just finished playing trick or treat in the neigbourhood

  • An unfinished or undefined time period
  • an unfinished action/situation

NEGATIVE Form

Negative forms

PRESENT PERFECTWe create the negative form by adding "not" to the auxiliary verb. We haven't seen aunt Charlie since Halloween .

PAST SIMPLE

We create the negative form by adding "not" to the auxiliary "did" followed by the main verb in its base form. I didn't watch the footbal game last Thanksgiving.

Step 2

Synthesis and organization, the pillars for presenting

We tell thousands and thousands of stories. ⅔ of our conversations are stories.

Step 3

Step 1

We need to interact with each other. We learn collaboratively.

We are visual beings. We are capable of understanding images from millions of years ago, even fromother cultures.

Text + icons

While you shouldn't overuse bulletpoints, icons and diagrams can be great allies when telling stories.
