Who and where?

SCHOOL:

It is a Lower Secondary School which is trying to implement new techonogies and innovative methods to the didactic offer. Teachers and the Manager are young and very active and pay much attention to projects and school clubs.

Chioggia, southern part of the Venice Lagoon

AREA:

CULTURAL BACKGROUND:

The majority of students are into music and sports. They are also interested in local news (Events, Politics). There is a very big gap among students who really enjoy the school subjects, and students who are bored and sometimes annoyed by lessons.

21 Students of which 9 males and 12 females

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR :

Students are responsible but get bored easily. They use their phone in every possible quiet moment.

Students often tend to form fixed groups, but they have their own balance.

HETEROGENITY/HOMOGENITY:

SENs & SPLDs:

2 students with Dyslexia and Dysorthography;1 adopted child with linguistic difficulties;1 student with major family problems and suffering from panic attacks 1 deaf-mute student

Used to training and tests online on some online platforms, either in class and at home. They can easily reach the platforms from Google Classroom.

Why?

• It allows to present familiar topics;
• It leads to a tangible product;
• It improves creativity;
• Students can express their talents freely even remaining in an organized environment;

• It promotes teamwork and autonomy in researching, selecting and elaborating sources;

• It puts toghether various, quick, and alternative subactivities in order to keep concentration high.

Objective:

• Every group will create a video news (30 seconds to 1 minute);

• All of the videos will be unified in a single newscast.

• Director: He/she selects the sources and edits the video and subitles
• Scriptwriter: He/she writes the storyboard and the script of the video
• Encoreman: He/she speaks or signs.

Clarity of exposition concerning the video, the voiceover / signing and the subtitles.

Assessment

SPLDs and SENs specific criteria

Thanks to the variety of outputs, no big differences are required in evaluating them

SPLDs and SENs become an enrichment for groups.

Not only the final product, but also the whole process is evaluated.
