What were Occupy Wall Street protests about?
Occupy Wall Street was a series of daily protests over a two month period in late 2011. People protested wealth inequality, corporate greed and the influence that money has on democracy in The United States. This took place on NYC's Wall Street and became an international movement.

How it started
Following The Great Recession, the greed of wealth was particularly apparent to many Americans, which resulted in a loss of trust in the government and the private sector. The first occupy wall street protest was organized for September 17th, 2011 by a few employees of Adbusters, an anti-consumerism publication. The movement soon grew into something much bigger.

What did the Occupy Wall Street movement look like?
On one of the days of protest, over 30,000 people participated. To this day, Occupy Wall Street is one of biggest protests to take place in NYC history. The impact of those protests reflect just that.
Occupy Wall Street's Legacy
Following the Occupy Wall Street protests, wealth inequality became a household topic of conversation. It opened many people's eyes to the actual gravity of the issue of income and wealth inequality here in The U.S. and brought attention to the issue. The widely known conversations surrounding the top 1% of wealth in America is thanks to Occupy Wall Street. The movement definitely left its mark in the nation.
