A sketchbook is very important to the main character in this story. His name Is Jordan Banks, and he loves to doodle. He wanted to go to art school, but instead his parents made him go to a prestigious middle school where they prioritize academics rather than art. Jordan was not very happy about this.

Pink Shorts are a joke in the school Jordan goes to. I think it is part of the school uniform, but not one person wears them since it isn't enforced. Jordan wears these for the last part of the book as it is too hot for a hoodie and pants.

As I have stated earlier, The main character Jordan is obsessed with doodling in his sketchbook. But he doesn't exactly draw artistic masterpieces, he draws whatever he wants, whenever he wants. And you can't blame the guy. Without a way of fitting into his old or new life, he has to go somewhere other than his parents.

Ms.Rawle is the typical mean teacher that not one person likes. But of course, there are exceptions to this stereotype (especially you Mrs.Kensic). She does not find the main character and his friend important enough to call them by their real names. Even though she has been confronted about this multiple times, she only started calling them by their real names until the end of the book.

Hand Puppets are an important part of a character's personality. The character that wears them is named Alexandra. She only wears them to cover an old burn that happened when hot water got spilled on her wrist. But later, the puppets became part of her life and personality.
