There were multiple ways the Igbo Resisted Colonnization.
The Ekumeku fighters used guerrilla tactics to defend their land, ambushing British forces and sabotaging their infrastructure. However, by 1914, the British defeated them with superior weapons and tactics.
The Ekumeku Movement was a decade long, armed resistance by the Anioma people in western Igbo regions against British colonization.
They protested in markets, boycotted British goods, and attacked colonial buildings. Although the British violently suppressed the revolt, killing many women, it showed how Igbo women used their traditional power to resist. The uprising made the British reconsider some of their policies in Nigeria.
The Aba Women's War was a major protest by thousands of Igbo women in southeastern Nigeria against British colonial rule. It began in response to new taxes on women, who had not been taxed before.
