Transcript
Police -Was a big part in this book because of the location. Many officers hung around Jerome's (the main character) neighborhood because of the violence in the town. The police officers also wrongfully killed Jerome early in the book. (The rest of the story is narrated as Jerome as a ghost.)
Prop Gun -Jerome's best friend, Carlos gave Jerome a prop gun during school. As Jerome was walking home a police officer, Officer Moore shoots and kills Jerome because he saw Jerome with the gun. The reason why Officer Moore wrongfully kills him because of his skin color.
Ghost -After Jerome is shot by Officer Moore, he turns into a ghost. While being dead he can communicate with other "Ghost Boys" and also a living person being Sarah, Officer Moore's daughter. Jerome as a ghost narrates the story and can see what is happening in the living world. Sarah also apologizes to Ghost Jerome for what her father did to him.
Jerome's School -School is where Jerome made his only friend, Carlos, but also made enemies of his own. A group of boys at Jerome's school bullies him and Carlos. The bullying causes Jerome and Carlos mental trauma and often has to hide or run from them to avoid them hurting him and Carlos.
Bullying/Bullies -The bullying at Jerome's school causes him and Carlos to hide in bathroom stalls to get away from them. One day, Carlos shows Jerome his fake gun and gives it to Jerome. Carlos says to Jerome to use it for protection from the bullies. Which leads to cops seeing the fake gun and ultimately killing him.
