Why is the secret sauce important?
Aligning the instructional activities with learning objectives
Creating a structured process for instructional design
Facilitating data-driven decision-making
Facilitating effective communication among stakeholders
Enhancing instructional design expertise
Promoting continuous improvement
How do I use it?

Let's think about it as if we were making a sandwich

EVALUATION
What really is the point?
With all the pieces of the ADDIE 'sandwich' in place, we should be able to streamline effective learning and development programs whether online or offline.

ANALYSIS
This is the step for asking all the questions before you start.
You want to analyse the current training ground. Identify the problem you’re trying to solve, knowledge gaps, and what has worked in the past.
Some good questions to ask yourself are:
- Who is going to receive your training?
- What will your training be about?
- When is it going to happen?
- Where is it going to happen?
- Why are you doing this?
- How are you going to achieve this?

DESIGN
Now, translate all the information collated in the Analyze phase into a learning design.
Gather all the tools and resources you will need to define the learning outcomes and to create an amazing learning experience.
Some good questions to answer here are:
- What do the students need to accomplish at the end of the program?
- What are the learner’s needs?
- What instructional goals does the project focus on?
- The roadmap of how the study or project will appear on paper.
At the end of this process, you should have a rational and planned strategy, or set of strategies, that has the ultimate goal of reaching the project’s targets
TIP
We recommend you use Backward Design to prioritise the main learning goal and THEN create the assessments that measure that goal and THEN the lessons to complete the assessments.

DEVELOPMENT
This is where you create the prototype that was designed. Make use of the data collected from the two previous stages, and create a program that will relay what needs to be taught to participants.
Make it engaging and attractive by adding graphs, colors, graphics, multimedia, etc.
Here you answer:
- Is the time frame being adhered to?
- Are you creating materials as per schedule?
- Are participants contributing as per their optimal capacity?
- Are the materials produced up to task on what they were intended for?

IMPLEMENTATION
Here, we focus on the delivery of the training and project management. Effectively delivering the training is the key element in this phase.
This includes communicating with learners, logistics, data collection, and training trainers for global roll-outs of the learning program.
Ensure you can fully answer:
- What is the emotional feedback given
- Are there any extra guides or manuals the learners need?
- How about FAQs that may come up along the way?
- What is the protocol if users experience technical difficulties during the training?
- What happens if Plan A fails?

EVALUATION
Now, YOU get to be evaluated. Well, at least the effectiveness of the learning program. Were all the questions asked in the Analysis stage accomplished?
You can formally evaluate the learning program using post-assessments, observations, or productivity data. These will highlight what people learned, how they’ve applied it, and the results achieved.
You should:
- Determine a system for analyzing participant feedback.
- Determine the method to be used if some parts of the project need to be changed prior to full release.
- Determine who gets to receive your final output regarding the project. Why are you doing this?
- How are you going to achieve this?
Let's see an example
