Is it better to do sports for money or to stay healthy?

Let's Hear It!

The weekly column where you can let the world know how you feel.
Pau Ferndau writes:
It is difficult for me to define my thoughts about sports. On one hand, I think that everyone should play sports. Sports are an excellent way to meet people, make friends and build teamwork. Some of the best memories I have as a kid revolve around different sporting competitions or practices with my friends. Sports are an excellent way to stay healthy and keep your body fit.

Sports also offers the possibility to learn how to be a good winner as well as a good loser. Learning to be a gracious winner is an important life skill. People should know how to react even when they get what they want. They can shake hands with the loser and celebrate with elegance.
It is important for all people to have a goal to work toward and take steps to accomplish it. Every day that you play sports, you have an opportunity to compete with yourself and watch yourself improve and progress.
gracious
However, there are many aspects to professional sports that I dislike. For one thing, the athletes make way too much money. Society starts to view these athletes as gods and they begin to have influence over young people that isn’t always a
positive one. The amount of pay also shows that society values athletes more than education. All professional athletes should be required to donate some of their salary to their local schools
value
So, while I do believe that athletics are important for everyone, I wish there was a way to make professional athletes show a better example to their followers. We should start to put less emphasis on the results of different games and more
importance on the aspects of staying in shape and having fun. In the end, the winner doesn’t matter as long as everyone enjoys themself.
