inhospitable

New Horizons

Dr. Edgar followed Dr. Warner into the large area that they hoped would become an animal sanctuary. “Right now we don’t have any mammals, only insects and worms. We’re using the insects to help pollinate the plants and also as a food source for the future residents. Many of these insects are able to survive in inhospitable conditions, so they are thriving here."
organic
“We hope that the worms will adapt to enjoy living in this sandy soil on Mars. We are experimenting with many different types of organic matter, to see if we can create viable soil. Hopefully, the worms will begin to enrich the soil here the same way they do on earth.” “Dr. Edgar looked at the billions and billions of flying, crawling and hopping insects in the room. “So, what’s the next step?”
modify
“Our next step is to introduce a few reptiles. In our spaceship, we brought over 6,000 types of eggs. Our plan is to modify a living space for each species and do experiments until we find a way to keep them alive. Lizards can survive in more extreme temperatures than other mammals, and we already have a food source ready for them. Our goal is to get the lizards thriving before we introduce mammals or birds”
generating
“This sounds amazing,” said Dr. Edgar. “I am so happy to be a part of this mission. I can’t wait until we start getting real colonies of people up here. It will be especially excellent once we no longer need to live completely enclosed in this laboratory. “It’s still going to take a while,” Dr. Warner states. “There is still almost no atmosphere here. If we can find the correct balance of the different gases and begin generating them correctly, everything else will fall into place.”
Which paragraph tells what Dr. Edgar’s dream is?
Which paragraph tells what the next animal the scientists will introduce into the habitat will be?
Which paragraph tells how the scientists are attempting to create good soil?
Which paragraph tells why the insects are thriving on Mars?
