antics
With all of the social media, videos, and blogs in today’s world, it is really hard not to hear about celebrities’ antics. It seems like someone is always getting married, having a fight, breaking up or getting into trouble. Celebrities aren’t always the best role models, but there are some that are good at making a difference in the world. This report will outline some of the ways celebrities are helping out and discuss the causes they believe in.
suffering
One cause that many celebrities are involved in is Humane Society International. This organization works toward animal protection and tries to stop animal suffering around the world. The main goals of this organisation are to ban trophy hunting, stop animal testing and improve the lives of farm animals. They have also been hugely successful in encouraging the wealthy to go fur-free. In the past years, a large portion of the population has become angry at those that choose to wear fur.
inadequate
Another popular organization good at bringing change to the world is Water.org. This group has a mission to educate the public about the inadequate water supplies on earth. The project was founded by Matt Damon in 2007, and many celebrities, such as Justin Timberlake and Jason Bateman are involved. Many celebrities are very proud of the work this organization does to create real, sustainable change.
awareness
Water certainly is one of the most important resources on the planet, but many celebrities chose to support foundations dealing with arts and education. Save the Music Foundation raises awareness of music education programs in public schools. It is no surprise that many people associated with this foundation are musicians, such as Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Snoop-Dogg.
basic
A much less creative organization, Small Steps Project, focuses simply on providing the most basic hygiene supplies and shoes to people in extreme need. This project was founded in the United Kingdom and funded by Beyonce, Madonna, George Clooney and Serena Williams. As the conditions that some children live in becomes more known, more and more people want to become involved in the Small Steps Project.
devastating
In addition to humanitarian projects, many celebrities also donate time and money to medical research. One of the largest organisations for research into childhood diseases is St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. This research hospital is on the cutting-edge of the latest medicine to fight devastating childhood illnesses. St. Jude’s is known for providing help and relief to many struggling families.
maternity
A final project we'll discuss that many celebrities are busy with is called Every Mother Counts. This organization works to help pregnant women and their children by ensuring access to quality maternity care. This project works with women and the influential people in their communities to improve many aspects of a mother’s life.
