What things does a new mother need?

A final project we'll discuss that many celebrities are busy with is called Every Mother Counts. This organization works to help pregnant women and their children by ensuring access to quality maternity care. This project works with women and the influential people in their communities to improve many aspects of a mother’s life.

They have a large presence in Guatemala, where the rate of maternal mortality is quite high. There is a lack of service for pregnant women, so indigenous people are being trained as midwives. These midwives are able to help pregnant women receive care while they are pregnant. Another benefit from this foundation is helping pregnant women who might be nervous about their pregnancy. This project currently has 480,000 women and children receiving services.
