intense
Jessica still believed she didn't need to practice.
“But I think she is being really foolish if she doesn’t prepare anything.”
“The competition at the audition is intense. You had better have something really awesome prepared.”
“Well, I didn’t audition yet,” but I am certain to get the part. The director said they loved my video.”
part II
Jessica rushed home after work and made a dramatic entrance into her apartment. “You’ll never guess who is going to be the new star on Landings,” she called out to her roommates. Both girls jumped up to give her a hug. “Wow! No way, that was so fast. I didn’t even know you had auditioned with them.” Her short roommate, Beth, looked shocked.

A Sure Thing
“So, what are you going to do for the audition?” asked Maribel, who also wanted to become an actress. “Why is everyone so worried about my audition?” Jessica crossed her arms and pouted. “I don’t need a great audition because the director said I was perfect. I am sure to get the part.” “I’m not sure it works that way,” Maribel continued. Jessica scowled. “Maybe you need to have something prepared. You’re just jealous that I am so good, that I don’t.”

stalked
Text Box A
Jessica stalked out of the room and left her two roommates together on the couch. “I know I don’t know anything about auditions, Beth said. “Yeah, nothing is certain in the acting business,” Maribel agreed. “The director probably told everyone that they were perfect. I bet there will be over fifty people at that audition.” “I’ll try to talk to her again later,” Beth said. “Perhaps we can trick her into practicing, by asking her to show us some dance moves.”
neglected
Text Box A
But even though her roommates asked her to work with them on a dance routine, She was very excited to tell everyone she knew about her new role on the TV program. She often neglected to mention that it was just a potential role, and that she hadn’t actually been given an offer. Although her friends, coworkers and roommates all urged her to prepare something for the audition, Jessica continued to think that she was a shoo-in for the part.
- What is Jessica's attitude about the audition?
- What attitude does she have when people try to help her?
