Analogy Phonics
Analogy phonics instruction is a useful approach for helping students read and use known word families to read and spell words. Instruction builds upon identifying the similarities between words. A student who recognizes that the phonogram, or rime, segment of an unfamiliar word is identical to that of a familiar word can blend the known rime with the new word onset to decode the word.
