This was one of Rosa Parks oufits, that she wore, that is now in a museum.

This is a replica of the bus Rosa Parks sat on and refused to give her seat up.

Rosa Parks was an African American woman who refused to give her bus seat to a white man, and then was arrested. Becuase of this arrest the community decide to do a boycott and the boycott was used as a peaceful protest.

The montgomery Bus boycott started Dec. 1955, And it eneded in Dec. 1956 It lasted over 365 days and endedup working

Rosa was arresed on Dec. 1st 1955

This is Central High school that the 9 high honors students attended, and later was shut down for a year due to violence etc.

This is a diploma from one of the little rock nie students At Central High school in Arkansas.

The little rock nine is a group of 9 teens from little rock Arkansas who wanted proper education. Since there was desegreation in schools, the schools arfrican Americans attended weren't as great as white schools, so as a ¨test" the governor let 9 high honors students attend central high school but it eventually led to bd things.

This is the bridge that the slema marches crossed.

This is the route the selma march was on.

The selma marches happned in Selma Montgomery, Alabama (54 miles apart) 1965. It was nearly impossible for blacks to vote in Selma, Alabama. A white police officer killed a black teen who was protesting for the right to vote. This sparked the selma marches. There were three marches that didn't really end up well.

This movement occurred in Greenwood Mississippi.
This took place in the year of 1966
The movement was important beacuse emphasized black self-reliance and self-determination more than integration
Malcolm X augered for black power, and encouraged racial pride. combating centuries of humiliation by demonstrating self-respect and racial pride as well as celebrating the cultural accomplishments of black people around the world.
Malcolm X was at the movement.

This led to From 11/1/1961 all interstate bussses were required to display a certificate reading: seating aboard this vehicle is without regarurd to race,olor,creed or national origin by orde the ICC
This shows them putting out the fire after the bus was attacked which led the bus to stop but the movement didn't.
This happened through Greyhound and trailways busses from Washington DC, new orlenes to Louisiana, here are some people on the busses showing their support
This happened in 1961 during summer/ spring
Groups of black and white civil rights leaders were at the movement these were some of the people who were involved in the freedom riders movement

This is where the sit-in happened
It took about 2 days for the diners to get filled up and a bunch of people joining the movement as you can see in the picture the diner is packed with people, they stayed the whole day utill it was time to close and came back the next day and day after that with even more people despite all the hate and horrible things they went through
This is showing how white people were puring drinks on black people all bc the wanted good service, and that is not just all there would be really bad fight and police trying to physically taking blacks out of the diner

young African American students staged a sit-in at a segregated Woolworth's lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, and refused to leave after being denied service.
