Little Rock 9
In September of 1957, 9 black honor students were put into Central High School to attempt to desegregate the school. The NCAAP put these 9 kids into that high school, since the school for coloreds would take them double the time to get to and segregating schools was unconstitutional. The school eventually closed down about a year later, after whites campaining againt intergrating the school and violent resistence. The students would also have to be escorted to each class to make sure other students wouldn't bother them. This shows how extremly racist and hateful the city and Governer were, toward kids who did nothing wrong, just wantig to go to school.

This one of the fire hydrants that was used by fire fighters to spray protesters to keep them from protesting, injuring them and ripping their clothes.

Bull Conner, the cheif of police, still kept injuring the protesters and arresting them. It eventually reached the

This is a picture of drink and food being poured on protesters, which shows many people disliked them for fighting for rights.
These are the chairs they sat on for hours while protesting to be served.

Greensboro Sit-ins
Room 03
In 1960, Greensboro, North Carolina a number of colored college students refused to leave the seats in the diner, Woolworth store, even though they wouldn't be served. They would sit at the segregational diner all day long, getting coffee and food poured on them. Some were even arrested. Greensboro eventually desegregated and sit-ins spread around the country since they worked so well. This was a early and exciting accomplishment for th Civil rights movement, it showed that balck people had power.
