Rights and Duties
Rights and duties are interconnected. Rights guarantee certain freedoms and protections, while duties ensure the responsible exercise of those rights. This relationship creates a balanced and just society
What are Rights?
Fundamental Principles Rights are inherent entitlements that protect individuals from harm and allow them to live with dignity and freedom.
Universal Values Rights are universal, applying to everyone regardless of their race, gender, religion, or social status.
Legal Guarantees Rights are recognized and protected by law, ensuring that individuals can exercise their freedoms without fear of reprisal.
Right: Freedom of Speech/The Right to Protection and Security
1-Peaceful Assembly Individuals have the right to gather peacefully and express their views on matters of public concern.
3-Express Opinions Freedom of speech allows individuals to express their thoughts and ideas without fear of censorship or reprisal.
2-State Responsibility Governments are responsible for upholding and protecting the rights of individuals, including their right to freedom of speech and security.
4-Personal Safety The right to protection and security ensures that individuals are safe from harm and that their fundamental rights are protected.
Duty: Respect Individual and Collective Freedoms
Tolerance Respecting individual freedoms means being tolerant of others' beliefs, opinions, and lifestyles, even if they differ from our own.
Responsibility We have a duty to act responsibly in ways that do not infringe on the rights or freedoms of others.
Non-discrimination It is essential to treat everyone with equal respect and dignity, regardless of their background, beliefs, or characteristics.
Community Engagement Active participation in civic life and contributing to the well-being of our communities strengthens the foundation of a just and equitable society.
