This picture shows the black panthers lined up.This shows what they wore to stand out.

This shows people raising their fists in the air which signifies the Black Power Movement.

In Mississippi, 1960-1970 Malcolm X, Black Panthers, and the nation of Islam wanted to start a movement against the white controlled society. It led to the spread of the belief of the nation of Islam and more Black operated stores and restaurants. It was important because it was a movement to end segregation.

This is a photo of clolored/black kids biking to school (im guessing) instead of taking the bus to honor Rosa Parks.

This is a photo of Rosa Parks getting arrested and getting put in jail for not moving out of her seat.

This lead to desegragtion on public transportation on local busses. This is important because they have been fighting for equil rights for years. And this is a huge step for that.

Rosa parks was asked to move to the back of the bus because a white man wanted to sit. But Rosa refused to move, so she was taken off the bus and arrested. People supected she was just extra tired from work, but she wasnt tired from work she was tired of the unfairness and segregation. Because she was arrested for that reseon, all colored people in Mongumory, Alabama boycotted the busses with caused them to lose lots of business.

This picture shows them shaking hands right on the steps after winning the case.

This shows the NAACP protesting against school segregation. It even shows a little boy who was protesting along with the rest of the protesters.

This is the team of lawyers and speakers who led the case and argued their side and won.

iIn Topeka Kansas, May 17, 1954, The NAACP and Thurgood Marshall wanted to desegregate schools.They ended up pursuing the case to court. It led to the court making a law to desegregate schools. It is important because kids were finally allowed to all go to school together no matter their race.

This is a photo if MLK after he gave his speech and you can see how happy he is that he could convey his message.

This is a photo of MLK giving his speech, and you can see in his face how passionate he is about the topic.

This is a photo of MLK walking up to the podium to give his speech, and you can see all the people who showed up to watch him speak.

This lead to people understanding why the colored people want freedom.They dont have freedom and they’re hoping this will help.

MLK was about to give a speech, he had it all planed out. But someone screamed something that caught his attention, and suddenly he didnt need the speech anymore. After that he gave a speech strait out of his heart. He talked about what his dreams were for the world and why they were his dreams.

The Assassination of MLK

This picture shows MLK after his death laying in his casket next to his 4 young children and wife. This picture shows how far people were willing to go to stop desegregation.

This is the mugshot of James Earl Ray. He was the person who shot and assassinated MLK.

This picture shows his last few minutes right before he was assassinated and killed on the balcony.

in Memphis Tennessee, 4 April 1968, MLK was shot and killed on a balcony. He was a very important part of desegregation and was believed by the community. It also showed the lengths people can go to to not desegregate. It led to Malcom X taking charge of the movement in a more violent way.

This is a photo to demistate how many kids/people had shown up to support and stand up for the cause.

This is a photo of the first group of the collage kids that started the Greensboro sit-ins.

This lead to diners desegragating and growing the space that colored people are allowed in. This is important because they have been fighting for equil rights for a long time, and this brings them one step closer.

In Greensboro, NC a group of young collage student wanted to eat. But the only diner that was near was a segregated diner that didnt serve colored people. They decided that they would go into the diner and sit until tehy were served they sat there for hours, and when the diner closed they left. But then the next morning they would come in and sit in the same spot until closing again. This happened for days and word started to spread. Soon there were to many colored people in the diner. They couldnt serve anyone, because it was so crowed. The word started to spread more and soon not only were the sit-ins spreading across, Greensboro, not only were they spready across NC, they were spreading all across the south.
