- Use their enthusiasm to energize the training.
- Do not rush.
- Just because they are excited, dosen't mean they get it.
- Do not allow the learner to dominate the training.
- If training a group ensure everyone gets a chance for interaction.

Inexperienced learners benefit from additional validation. They may need to work through each learning activity multiple times.
Tips :
- Encourage this learner.

- Do not rush.
- Allow this learner the time they need to become familiar with the competency.
- Relate new concepts to something familiar.
- Use analogies to help the learner build a mental model.
- Incorporate lots of hands on practice.
Watch For:
- Check for understanding early in the session.
- Have the learner demonstrate the skill , or explain the knowledge in their own words.
- Do not move on if the learner cannot demonstrate understanding.
- If training a group it is ok to have some members move on to additional Veeva training while you continue to work with the learners who need more help.
Reluctant
Reluctant learners benefit from additional dialogue.Spend some extra time discussing why being qualified in the competency will help them and our patients.
Tips :
- Show confidence in this learner.
- Let them know your goal is to set them up for success.
- Acknowledge any frustrations.
- Allow this learner to tell you why they are reluctant.
- Focus on the process, not the person.
Watch For:
- Do not let negativity derail the training session.
- Be prepared to refocus the conversation after hearing out their concerns.
- Do not move on if the learner cannot demonstrate understanding.

Experienced learners expect to be respected. They may be able to test out of the competency once read and understand training is complete.
Tips :
- Be confident.
- Ensure you only agree to train on competencies you have already qualified on.
- Acknowledge experience.
- We are a culture of continuous improvement. If this learner has an idea for how we might do things better, help them reach out to the operational excellence team.
- Explain why we do what we do.
Watch For:
- A power struggle.
- If discussions get heated, you can always call a break. Sometimes a few minutes apart is enough to cool tensions.
- Beware overconfidence.
